Lawmakers in Washington state passed legislation to adopt a target of 100% new car sales to be EVs by 2030. This deadline would make the most ambitious goal in the country for EV sales, California has a target set at 2035. This legislation was a part of a $17B transportation package targetted at infrastructure, transportation, and GHG emissions. This legislation comes roughly a year after lawmakers in the state initially passed the same 2030 new EV sales target, however that bill was vetoed by Gov. Inslee because it was tied to the implementation of a road usage charge unlike this bill.
