Cummins buys Meritor for $3.7B as it eyes electric future 2/25/22

In a new deal, Cummins is buying Meritor for $3.7B. This deal looks at zero-emission trucks and vehicles, by adding products to Cummins components "that are independent of powertrain technology, and by leveraging our global footprint we expect to accelerate the growth in Meritor’s core axle and brake businesses," Tom Linebarger, Cummins CEO and chairman, said in the announcement.

The Tesla brand is attracting more and more Republicans 2/25/22

Republicans are beginning to express more interest in the electric vehicle market, a space historically embraced by Democrats. A new survey found that in January 22% of Democrats were considering buying a Tesla, while 17% of Republicans were. Republican consideration of buying a Tesla has risen about 3 points since December’s survey. The survey also found Republicans are slightly more likely to trust the Tesla brand, 27% compared to 25% among Democrats.

Element Fleet Management Corp., launched Arc by Element, their own end-to-end EV fleet management offering. It is created and designed to "help clients navigate and simplify the complex transition from internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to EVs." It includes upfront planning, acquisition and financing to the ongoing maintenance, power and accident management through to end-of-life remarketing.

Baltimore Gas and Electric is Investing in Electric

Baltimore Gas and Electric's fleet has started the process of phasing in electric trucks to its fleet, consisting of 1,300 vehicles and 700 pieces of equipment. They are installing solar-powered charging farms at gas complexes and working with ChargePoint to develop fast-charging solutions for their service centers.

An electric avenue to a no-emissions fleet: CTA unveils plan for electrification by 2040 2/23/22

Chicago Transit Authority, who we have been communicating with, has officially unveiled their plan for all electric city fleet by 2040. It was found that the whole scale of this electrification endeavor will cost between $1.8 and $3.1 billion, excluding base cost of maintaining the current fleet and facilities.
