Low use of EV smart charging alarms Minn. regulator 4/4/22
The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission's filings from Xcel Energy Inc. stated that only 10% of the 14,000 EVs in the utilities' service area were taking part in managed charging, aka "smart charging". This gap is alarming as smart charging allows for utilities to control the timing of charging to avoid high electricity pricing and charge on off-peak times. Xcel set the 2030 goal of having 1.5 million EVs across its service areas in the Midwest, Colorado and the Southwest.
