GM Is Adding a Heat Pump to Its Ultium EV Platform. Here’s Why That Matters 4/25/22
GM's Ultium Platform, the premium EV architecture for new models like the EV Hummer and EV Chevy Silverado, announced that it will include a heat pump. Heat pumps are important because they allow the battery to better use the energy for driving and towing, rather than wasting energy on functions like heating the battery or AC. While heat pumps are not a pre-rec for EVs but in cold climates it can be really helpful in maintaining the state of charge and for heating the cabin.
