Startups are playing a huge role in accelerating the EV transition, leading companies over the past decade include Dyson acquired battery company Sakti3 (69 patents granted), industrial/commercial electric motor manufacturer NovaTorque (37 patents), electric drive train developer Visedo (35 patents), and wireless charging solution provider for HD EVs Wireless Advanced Vehicle Electrification (WAVE) (25 patents since 2011). Leaders in the past five years include battery providers Polyplus Battery, Terrawatt Technology, and Soteria Battery Innovation with 84 combined patents. Energy storage leaders include Nucurrent and Solarlytics with a combined 115 patents.
